Disclaimer
This site publishes what manufacturers and standards bodies have published. It does not design electrical installations and is not a substitute for a competent auto electrician or a habitation check.
What the checkers are
Each checker applies a published rule, with its source and clause named, to the numbers you type in, and shows the arithmetic so you can check it by hand. That is republication of public technical information with attribution, plus a calculation you could do yourself. It is not a design for your vehicle, not a verdict on your installation, and not a statement that any system is safe, compliant or approved.
What wins over this site
- The equipment manual. Where a manufacturer’s manual states a figure, that figure wins over anything calculated here.
- A competent auto electrician or habitation engineer, for anything connected to the vehicle’s own wiring, alternator, ECU or CAN bus; for the final selection of cable and overcurrent protection; for all 230 V work including hook-up inlets, consumer units, RCDs and polarity; for battery compartment siting and ventilation; for anything routed near LPG; and for any system where your measurements do not match what the published rules predict.
What this site deliberately does not publish
No wiring instructions for any vehicle. No cable-sizing or fuse-sizing calculator. No current-carrying-capacity table for automotive cable. No fuse rating of any kind. No 230 V or LPG guidance. No model-year rule about alternators. These omissions are design decisions recorded in the methodology, not oversights, because the failure modes of getting them wrong include vehicle fires.
What a disclaimer cannot do
Under the Unfair Contract Terms Act 1977 s.2(1) and the Consumer Rights Act 2015 s.65, liability for death or personal injury resulting from negligence cannot be excluded by a contract term or by a notice given to persons generally, which includes a website notice. This page does not attempt to. The protection for readers comes from the figures being correct, conservative and transparently sourced, from absence being stated rather than filled, and from every output steering you to the equipment manual and a competent person. If you find a figure here that a manufacturer’s document contradicts, use the corrections page; a correction on a safety-relevant figure is handled first.
Accuracy and freshness
Every figure carries the date it was checked. Manufacturers change documents; retailers change prices; the NCC changes its lists. A record older than 120 days is marked unverified and one older than 400 days is demoted. A site build date is not a verification date. Prices are the ones seen on the date recorded and are not live.
Independence
Independent site. Not affiliated with or endorsed by Victron Energy, Banner, CTEK, Dometic, Sterling Power, Renogy, the NCC or any brand or body listed. Product names are used only to identify the products. See the affiliate disclosure for how the site is funded and why that never changes a figure or an order.
