Leisure battery chargers, by the charging profile the maker publishes
Retailers list amps and stages. What decides whether a mains charger suits your battery is the profile: the absorption and float voltages it applies for a given chemistry. This page lists 16 chargers by the chemistries their makers actually publish a profile for, with the voltages where printed, the source and the date it was checked. Where a maker publishes no lithium profile, the row says exactly that: an absence, not a verdict.

“Published” means the maker names a profile for that chemistry in its own manual or datasheet. An absence line means the document was checked on the date shown and names none; it is never a statement that the charger cannot be used with that chemistry. Retailers with and without affiliate programmes are listed on the same footing.

Where a battery maker publishes its own charge voltages, those win. The battery table on the checker page records absorption and float voltages per battery where published, and the absence line where not.
How this list was compiled
- Only the maker’s own manual, datasheet or product page counts as a source. Retailer listings are never used for a specification.
- A profile is recorded as published only where the maker names the chemistry. A charger marketed as “suitable for all leisure batteries” with no chemistry named is recorded as an absence.
- No charger is scored, ranked or recommended over another. Rows are in alphabetical order by brand.
- Price bands are the prices seen on UK retailer pages on the date recorded, kept as a band so the page does not pretend to be a live price feed.
- Every record carries a checked date. After 120 days it is marked unverified; after 400 days it is demoted. A site build date is not a verification date.

What is the difference between a charger’s amps and its charge profile?
Retailers list output current and the number of stages. The profile is the set of voltages the charger applies for a given chemistry: absorption, float and storage. Two 15 A chargers can apply different voltages, and a profile intended for one chemistry can over- or under-charge another. This page lists the chemistries each maker actually publishes a profile for, with the voltages where printed.
What happens if I use the wrong profile for my battery chemistry?
CTEK’s own documentation for the CS ONE (Gen 2) says: “WARNING! Do not apply RECOND mode on the following types of batteries: - Lithium: LiFePO4 - Lead Acid: GEL or AGM” (checked 16 September 2026). Where a maker publishes no such warning, that is recorded as an absence, not as safety.
Do these chargers pick the profile automatically?
9 of the 16 select the profile manually (a button or switch), 2 automatically or through the maker’s app, and the rest are fixed or unstated. Each row names the method the maker publishes. Where a profile must be selected by hand, the manual is the authority on which setting matches the battery.
Are these ratings or recommendations?
Neither. Nothing on this page is a score, a rating or a “best”. Each row is what the maker publishes, quoted with a source URL and the date it was checked, and the retailer rows are listed in the same order whether or not a retailer has an affiliate programme.
Why does the mains charger matter if the van charges from the alternator?
A lead-acid battery left partially charged fails early through sulfation, in Victron’s published words. A mains charger with the right profile on hook-up or at home is the route to a full charge and float. The alternator route is covered on the split charge relay or DC-DC charger page.
